The Interior Design Process

  • 1. We meet

The initial consult normally takes anything from 60 - 90 minutes and is the time to delve into what it is that your project entails. We discuss what you want the outcome to be, what you like, what you don’t like, your family needs, your budget and the timeframe.

During this meeting if you have any Pinterest boards, inspiration pictures or floorplans then this is the time to share. The more information that Jane Taylor Interiors can gather about you, the more successful the outcome.

From this meeting we can provide you with a Design Proposal outlining the scope of your project. A fixed fee for the design work is given.

    Initial consultation fee - $150 +gst

  • 2. Concept design

After the package has been confirmed (if you chose not to use the hourly rate) Jane Taylor Interiors will start to develop a concept design for your project. Using digital mood boards we will present you with what is ultimately a style guide and a reference point to go back to through the entire design process. Images of interiors, a colour palette and basic floorplans are used to ensure we are providing our clients with a clear direction.

Once you are happy with the over arching scheme and ideas, then we can move to the next step!

  • 3. The details

    This is the developed design.

Now we start to specify the layout, colours, finishes, fittings, furniture - whatever is necessary for your project. Where possible physical samples will be collected and supplier showrooms can be visited. Documentation is written and drawn up so that those working on your project know exactly what they are doing ensuring smooth sailing!

3D drawings can be done to help you visualise your home and clarify exactly what the outcome will be.

Once you have approved ‘the details’ we can give the design documentation to your tradies and cabinet makers so that the project can get started!

  • 4. Ordering / Implementation

If furniture , soft furnishings or lighting is required, ordering can start to take place by us on your behalf. We have access to a great range of trade only suppliers and wholesalers, ensuring you get the best outcome.

Alternatively if you wish to have a ‘shopping list’ so that you can complete your project on your own, we can also provide that. Please let us know at the start of the project if this is something you would be interested in.

Work completed by Jane Taylor Interiors during the implementation of your project is charged at an hourly rate. This includes site meetings when required and meetings with contractors/ joinery companies/ Visits to suppliers.

  • 5. Finishing touches .

If you want help with the installation and styling of products to finish the project we can also do this - in fact we love doing this! Jane Taylor Interiors can supply accessories, art, plants - basically anything you may need.

*This is charged at an hourly rate.
